Step by Step Guide to Play Roulette

Roulette is one of the popular games in casinos and offers a comparatively low house edge. It is purely a game of luck. In roulette, the dealer spins the roulette wheel and drops the ball on the wheel. The wheel contains numbers up to 36 with a little elevation after every number which can contain the ball when the wheel slows down. The players bet on the numbers which are drawn at the table. If the ball lands on the same number on the wheel, the player wins a certain amount of money. Here is what you need to know about roulette before you play it.

Place your bets

It is not difficult to understand this game as the game is entirely dependent on chance. Before placing the bets on the table, you need to select the chip size that you want to bet with. Once you have selected the chip size, you can place your chips above any number on the table.

Types of roulette bets

There are mainly inside bets and outside bets. The inside bets are directly placed on one or more numbers. The outside bets are placed according to certain prepositions, such as high-low, odd-even, red-black, and even first, second, and third dozen. Several other combinations can be made with the bets according to the variant of the roulette.

Rules of roulette

There are several rules of roulette that you will need to learn before you can start playing.

Roulette chips

Roulette chips are different from the chips used in card games in most of the casinos. You will have to buy-in separately at the roulette table to join the game. To do this, you have to place your money on the table. The let the dealer know the denominations that you want for your chips. The dealer will count the money and forward the chip parcel of equivalent value to you.

When to bet

You will notice an object placed on the table which is generally called a “buck”. This is to notify the players about which number won the last game. Until the dealer removes the buck from the table, you cannot place any bets.

Betting on one or more

You can bet on a single number or multiple numbers with a single chip. If you want to bet on different layouts such as even-money bets of red/black, odd/even, dozen, or high/low, you place the bets on the prepositions mentioned on the table.

When to stop betting

The dealer will spin the wheel when the bets are being made on the table. At a certain point, the dealer will announce “No more bets.” You cannot place any bets for the round after that. If you push the dealer by placing the bets after he asks to stop, your bet can get disqualified.
